About us

Our story

The Brussels Young Adult Choir (BYAC) was founded in September 2021 by a group of singers who share a passion for choral singing. Under the direction of Johannes Dewilde, they focus on developing a rich choral sound and lively interpretations of an ambitious repertoire.

In its early years, BYAC has already made its mark in several ways. By participating in the prestigious international choral festival CantaRode, BYAC has had the opportunity to socialise with choirs from all over the world and learn how to strive for the highest level. In October 2023, the choir shared the stage with the Vlaams Radiokoor to pay tribute to the famous Belgian composer Vic Nees. In October 2025, they won first place in the Koor&Stem competition amongst the selected a capella choirs.

Bilingual and composed of singers aged 25 to 35, BYAC explores the a cappella repertoire from the Renaissance to the contemporary, including the Romantic period. The only requirement is that the singers, the conductor and the audience can establish a connection using pure harmonies and refined phrasing. BYAC is convinced that this passion will touch and delight the audience!

Our Ambitions

Our vision is to cultivate a choir that combines artistic excellence with a vibrant, supportive community.

We constantly aim to elevate our repertoire, challenge ourselves with ambitious projects, and deliver performances that inspire both singers and audiences. By fostering accountability, preparation, and collaboration, we ensure every rehearsal and concert is an opportunity to grow: musically, personally, and collectively.

We welcome singers who are ready to commit, explore diverse music, and contribute to a forward-looking, innovative choir experience, and we invite sponsors to join us in shaping a high-caliber artistic journey.
